Ammolite Suture Fossil
This beautiful little Ammonite fossil shows complex gemstone suture lines that give it a dendritic opal appeal. These beautiful blues, purples, greens and flickers of pink are incredibly eye catching in an Ammonite fossil.
This Ammonite is covered in gemstone suture patterns. There are three suture patterns for ammonoids: goniatitic, ceratitic, and ammonitic. The suture patterns found on this Plecenteras Meeki variety of Ammonite exhibits the more complex ammonitic suture pattern.
Suture patterns are well preserved in many fossils, however, it is rare to find Ammolite gemstone that maintain the pattern.
Size: This fossil is 16 centimetres (6.5 inches) in diameter, and weighs approximately 1.5kg (3lbs)
